Safety Standard EN 62368. The standard EN 62368 will take over and cease the safety standards for AV equipment (60065) and ICT equipment (60950-1) on Dec 20th, 2020. It aims in introducing a different, more hazard-based philosophy, to product testing. This standard 62368 adopts fundamentally different engineering concepts and principles. IEC 62368-1:2014 deals with the safety of electrical and electronic equipment within the field of audio, video, information and communication technology, and business and office machines with a rated voltage not exceeding 600 V. This standard does not include requirements for performance or functional characteristics of equipment.

IEC 62368-1 was published in Europe during the second half of 2014. Originally the DoW was June 2019, but was changed to December 2020. IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 is the new safety standard with a broad scope that covers ITE, communication technology, audio/video & similar type of equipment. It is a convergence of safety standards to replace IEC 60950 & IEC 60065 as the technologies also converge.
